  • DICER1-Related Tumors: Review the spectrum of these tumors including recently described phenotypes and discuss the role of DICER1 testing for individuals with various benign and malignant tumors.
  • Provider Burnout: Identify take-home strategies to sustain provider health and work/life balance and prevent burnout.
  • Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis (HLH): Describe limitations of the HLH-2004 diagnostic criteria and identify mimickers and atypical clinical presentations of HLH.
  • Global Outreach in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology: Describe impediments to making accurate diagnoses and providing comprehensive care in Low-to-Middle-Income Country settings and successful models for performing International Outreach.

  • Medication Adherence in AYA: Compare existing technology-based interventions and apply motivational interviewing techniques to improve medication adherence among AYA patients regardless of diagnosis.
  • Chronic Pain: Discuss current evidence around pharmacology, safety and legality of medical marijuana.
  • End Organ Damage in Sickle Cell Disease: Describe the pathogenesis and management of sickle retinopathy, sickle-related bony changes (including avascular necrosis) and sickle nephropathy.
  • Immune Hematology: Describe hematologic manifestations of Primary Immune Deficiencies and Primary Immune Regulatory Disorders and explain how best to work up and treat affected patients.
  • Costs of Access to Transformative Novel Therapies: Implement strategies to maximize access to novel but costly commercially available therapies (gene editing/therapy, CAR-T cells) and discuss relevant financial and ethical considerations.

Continuing Medical Education Credit

The American Society of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology’s Conference will offer continuing medical education (CME) credit. Credit will be awarded for sessions attended and evaluated. A certificate will be issued upon receipt of the evaluation.

The American Society of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

The American Society of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology designates this live activity for a maximum of 22.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

ASPHO offers its meeting evaluation online. The online evaluation may be completed during the meeting or after attendees have returned home. Participants will receive their certificate immediately when they submit their evaluations online. We encourage all attendees to complete this evaluation regardless of whether or not they are seeking CME credits.

Maintenance of Certification (MOC)

Two convenient Maintenance of Certification (MOC) opportunities include:

  1. MOC Learning Session on Saturday, May 4, at 11:45 AM. At the conclusion of this popular session, participants can submit their answers to the ABP MOC for scoring to receive 10 MOC Part 2 points. The fee is $50, and advanced registration is required.
  2. Online MOC Post Test - Faculty has written case-based, multiple-choice questions for educational sessions and attendees will receive 10 MOC Part 2 points once a score of 70% or higher is obtained. When purchased, attendees will be able to access the questions online as part of the evaluation. Participants can have unlimited access to the multiple-choice questions until December 1, 2019. The fee is $50, and advanced registration is required.

Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the activity, with individual assessments of the participant and feedback to the participant, enables the participant to earn 10 MOC points in the American Board of Pediatrics’ (ABP) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. It is the CME activity provider’s responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABP MOC credit.
